How does massage work to help individuals at work?
All Massage Therapies help improve circulation and nutrition to tissues, reduce muscular tension. Taking a few minutes out of your day to spend on you by having a massage can make you ‘feel good’. The overall effects of a reduction in tension and ‘calming’ of the nervous system can help to prevent stress-related injuries that affect body and mind.
Won’t recipients of massage feel sleepy afterwards?
Massage Therapies use a range of techniques, some to relax, calm and sedate and others to relax, release tension, re-energise and stimulate. In the workplace, massage techniques are used specifically to ease tension, promote relaxation and to re-energise and stimulate. ‘Relaxation’ does not mean ‘sleepy and switched off’; on the contrary, a relaxed body and mind means you are much more able to cope with stressful situations and the release of tension means that you are better able to be more focused on the task in front of you and to find your alertness raised.
Staff can’t afford to take a lot of time out for massage and won’t oils be messy?
As these Therapies are to be carried out in the workplace, all can be carried out through clothes and no oils are used. The massage takes place with the client sitting in a specially designed chair, which requires little space; it is also possible to provide massage at the desk. This ensures that recipients are able to continue with work activities straight away after the Massage session.
